Estimated tonnages

Estimated tonnages for 2020 are now available to be viewed on the website. Banking and borrowing will be added once Provisional tonnages are received from Marine Scotland.

West of Scotland by-catches

The by-catch for 6a Cod is 5% and for 6a Whiting 5% of all quota and non quota species onboard your vessel as from 1st January 2020.

NORTH SEA COD BANKING 2020

The 2020 Banking rules for 2020 only are that any vessel may bank 10% of their current total balance and will receive 1:1 in 2020. Normal banking rules will apply to all other species.

FINAL FIGURES 2019

The 2019 Final quota figures are now available to view on the website. All in year adjustments have now been updated. The significant changes are that Cod has been increased slightly but the North Sea and West Coast Saithe figures have decreased considerably.

ARCTIC COD

The MMO on behalf of the UK carried out two International Quota Swops and as a result the UK received North Sea Haddock and North Sea Saithe in return for Arctic Cod. The tonnages were distributed to all UK PO’s on a FQA basis. I have now allocated the tonnages that NESFO received to each individual vessel.

The Discard tonnages for North Sea Cod, Haddock, Whiting, Saithe, Nephrops and VIA Haddock have now been allocated to each vessel. The Directors decided to distribute them on how they were allocated to the PO.

2 November 2015 Dear Member QUOTA UPTAKES On receiving the weekly spreadsheets last week, the Board of NESFO discussed the subject at length at its monthly Board Meeting and decided to remind members they must have sufficient quota in place, for each species, prior to any landings. If any member has any agreements in the pipeline these should also be notified to NESFO as soon as possible. NESFO’s uptakes for North Sea Cod, Whiting and Saithe are above average with around seven weeks remaining, and with each member operating on an ITQ system, the Board want to ensure that individual vessels are allowed to catch their quota and help maintain a 12 month fishery. Over quota landings are set against quota belonging to other members of the Organisation and may prejudice other members in the long term, with no guarantee that quota can be obtained by the Organisation to make up the shortfall. Any vessel found to be in breach of any quota limits will be reported to the Board immediately for consideration. The Organisation is doing everything possible to secure additional quotas in a very competitive and scarce market and your co-operation in this matter is much appreciated.
